Phone one number for all development related queries

31 January 2024

The City of Cape Town has launched a new one-stop number for all building plan and development related queries. The new number to phone is 021 401 4702, Monday to Friday, from 08:00 to 16:00. It is easy and convenient. Our Contact Hub agents are waiting to assist.

'The City is always looking for improvements that will make it easier for residents to contact us, and get assistance. Doing business with the City should be as seamless as possible and our Development Management Department – this is the department that receives and assesses building plan and development applications – has been working on a solution that meets this commitment.

'Their efforts centred around a simple and convenient method for those who have queries about their applications, or want to submit an application to the City. Today, I am proud to present this solution to our residents.

'The 021 401 4702 number is the one to use from now on, regardless of the nature of your query – be it a building plan submission, a land use application, or any other matter related to development,' said the City's Deputy Mayor and Mayoral Committee Member for Spatial Planning and Environment, Alderman Eddie Andrews.

To date, residents and professionals from the development fraternity had to phone the eight planning district offices for assistance, each with its own contact number. It was also confusing for some who were unfamiliar with the City's district planning boundaries, and as a result, did not know which district office to contact.

'Luckily, this headache is now something of the past. It does not matter in which planning district the application falls, or where in Cape Town you live, the number to call is: 021 401 4702. Save it, use it, and pass it on to your friends, family, and colleagues,' said Alderman Andrews.

  • The Contact Hub agents handling development related queries are available Monday to Friday, from 08:00 to 16:00. They will assist as best they can, or escalate your query to an official if the matter cannot be resolved over the phone.
